Control of blinds
CBUS - Clipsal Schneider
The CBUS network from Clipsal Schneider is an open protocol bus system used mainly for lighting in residential and commercial properties.
The control side of the system (switches and communication between devices) is a SELV set up and has power (1 pair) and communication (2nd pairs) over CBUS CAT5 cable.
The main power, relay, dimmer, blinds units are DIN rail mounted. Software is free issue and can be programmed on a PC/laptop and downloaded by USB or Ethernet port.
The examples below provide an indication of basic blinds set ups, the clipsal range extends to a number of different switch ranges and interfaces, they do not include any interfaces required to program the units.
Single blind option
CBUS - Single blind and switch (mains dual winding OR SELV single winding reverse polarity)
The following components (excluding mounting arrangements and cabling) can be used to make up a single blind control:

Advice for using: CBUS - Clipsal Schneider
Pros
- The DIN mounted blinds controller can be used for EITHER mains or SELV blinds
- Free issue software is easy to use and program to achieve simple switching.
- Easy to extend the system to many blinds and switches, in larger installations different areas and partitions can be employed.
- Easy to group blinds
- Very reliable flexible system that has been around for a long time.
- Connection/interface to most other protocols
Cons
- The smartphone app is very expensive for smaller installations.
- Not yet greared up for Iot interactivity
- More complex control with feedback and indexing not readily available, any logic achieved by Pascal programming of PAC unit.
- Limited wireless connectivity
